On 6th January 2019 Architectural Sankul in association with INTACH organized Heritage Walk – शृंखला – ए – महल , भाग – १ at Mahal, Nagpur it was the first walk in the series of the Mahal Heritage zone and also the first for the year 2019. The citizens of Nagpur experienced the Past, Present and Evolution of Nagpur City at Shukrawari Lake from where the walk started. Shukrawari lake, Shri Vishweshwar Mahadev Devsthan, Hemadpanthi Shiv Mandir, Tamankar’s Ganesh Mandir, Thadeshwari Ram Mandir and Ganeshpeth Shiv Mandir were covered in the walk.
Ar. Nitika Ramani briefed and guided the walk and Ar.Madhura Rathod explained the motto with which the Architectural Sankul works and welcomed our Chef Guest Mr. Shripad Chitale who is the renowned historian and has 31 books and around 125 research papers to his credits.
Mr. Shripad Chitale with is stories made participants aware of the glorious history of Nagpur and briefed about the places covered in the walk.
Mr Kishor Divekar, convener INTACH Nagpur chapter and Mr. & Mrs. Ashok Singh Takur, Convener INTACH Chandrapur chapter graced the event by participating in the walk. They appreciated the efforts taken by
Ar. Nitika Ramani and Ar. Madhura Rathod for initiating heritage walks and visits every forthnight.
Ar. Madhura Rathod (Associate Professor- SMMCA,Nagpur) was awarded the letter of appointment as co-convener INTACH Nagpur Chapter.
The walk was graced by Architects, historians, doctors, lawyers and Nagpur lovers. Major crowd was of students who enthusiastically participated in the walk trying to grasp the knowledge shared.
Architectural Sankul is looking forward to work further more for conservation, restoration and preservation of Nagpur’s and Vidarbha’s rich Heritage and continue organizing heritage walks and visits. Efforts are planned to spread awareness in young minds of India for which various programs will be arranged for Schools and Colleges.
