Architectural Sankul in collaboration with INTACH, Nagpur chapter conducted HERITAGE WALK at Sonegaon Precinct On 4th February 2019,
Architectural Sankul in collaboration with INTACH ,Nagpur Chapter conducted had organized Heritage walk amidst the beautiful nature of Amrai, Sonegaon, Nagpur, for students of Tulsi ram Gaikwad Patil College of Architecture, Nagpur.
Heritage walk started at 8.30 am and the history started unfolding with narration by Architect Madhura Rathod (Co-Convenor of INTACH, Nagpur Chapter), Architect Nitika Ramani and Atharva Shivankar. The rich sensorial experience of the past was being experienced by the students as the story unfolded the reason for existing water bodies, temples, ponds and wells that had a historical relevance, and the contribution of Raghuji Raje Bhosle l and II.
The Sonegaon Murlidhar temple was the spot where student participants were made aware about the role of designing this temple by Raghuji Bhosale –lII. The scale and proportion, role of material and texture, iconography, etc. was discussed explicitly. The walk extended till the remains of the palace, lake, and well. Important architectural features of temple designs, contribution of the rulers, planning aspects associated with experience and the necessity to conserve such rich heritage precinct was discussed with students.
Overall, it was a successful attempt to bring awareness about built and unbuilt heritage in young architects
