On Friendship Day, 5th August 2018, Architectural Sankul had organized Heritage walk amidst the beautiful nature of Amrai, Sonegaon, Nagpur. Heritage walk was followed by series of events like Photo-walk, poetry and sketching-painting. Around 135 persons participated in different events.
Heritage walk started at 8.30 am and the history started unfolding with narration by Architect Nitika Ramani. The rich sensorial experience of the past was being experienced by the participants as the story unfolded the reason for existing water bodies, temples, ponds and wells that had a historical relevance.
The Sonegaon Murlidhar temple was the spot where participants were made aware about the role of designing this temple by Raghuji Bhosale –II. The scale and proportion, role of material and texture, iconography, etc. was discussed in length by Architect Madhura Rathod. The walk extended till the remains of the palace, lake, and well. In short, it was a ‘friendship day with Heritage’.
Participants were rejuvenated with the refreshments and by distributing friendship bands. Special dignitaries were felicitated for their support and cooperation. They were Mr. Virag Sontakke, Curator, Central Museum, Nagpur, Mr. Kishor Diwekar, INTACH Nagpur Convenor, and Mr. Ashok Singh Thakur, INTACH Chandrapur Convenor.
The open mic programme ‘Dharowar’ conducted by Mr. Athatva Shiwankar was a platform for the poets to recite their poetry and it also encouraged the young crowd to enhance their poetry writing skill. The sketchers and painters contributed in sketching and painting the beautiful Murlidhar temple with rich natural background.
